We started out on the Gold Coast where filmmakers, both professionals and emerging talent, have been gathering at S.T.A.R.S. meetings, dinners and special events from the year 2000. Our objective for these evenings is to provide an aesthetically pleasing and entertaining atmosphere to meet others interested in all facets of the craft of filmmaking. At the same time to share resources, skills, experience, collaborate on their movie or documentary projects and promote their new film.

We are dedicated to assisting filmmakers and writers by providing guest speakers and networking events especially tailored to our Queensland film industry. If you are interested in any aspect of film making or writing then S.T.A.R.S. offers you the opportunity to mix with friendly, like-minded people and gain support and advice from professionals in many related fields.

Our founder, is an experienced investigative journalist. Her friendships with many high profile film industry people and some of Australia’s bestselling authors became the catalyst to create an organised body where the knowledge of these professionals could be used to support each other’s projects and also guide new talent.
